First of all, Keri Hilson was supposed to be there to perform, and was a no show. Am I disappointed? Not at all. To my surprise, I ended up watching some of my boys perform, and they did a very good job, except for the fact that their mics sounded terrible. After Javon Black, Strizzo, and Lil Kee performed, Militant Military performed next. That was very mediocre. I do not get the reason for them to wear masks while they perform? Its kinda wack to me. After them, the surprise replacement for Keri Hilson was Slim Thug. He performed one song, and I was not impressed with his effort he gave during his show. Other than Strizzo, Lil Kee, and Javon Black, no one was very enjoyable until Busta Rhymes came on stage. Now that is what the show needed, without him, it would have been a very very boring evening. He performed all of his hit, was very energetic, and looked like he was having an enjoyable time while he was up there. I thought that he was going to be setting the bar for what was to come with TI coming to the stage after that. BOY WAS I MISTAKEN. TI could quite possibly be the worst live performer I have had the miserable privelage to see. He came out on stage with some wack ass hype man, late as usual, and proceeded to walk around and perform an array of album cuts before he went into his first couple of hits he made. After that he had DJ MLK put on Yung La's hit single "Aint I" ft. Young Dro, and The King himself. (FYI... Young Dro and Yung LA were not in Tampa this evening.) So, because he was the only person there to rap the song, he proceeded to the back of the stage to talk to his boys in a circle while the first two verses of the song played and the crowd stood there in amazement at what was going on. He finally came back to give the lackluster performance of the evening. I was not entertained, so we ended up walking out on the headliner to go get Hooters. Note to TI, get another opening act other than Busta Rhymes, because he makes you look like a non-enthusiastic headliner who cares nothing about any of his fans. The sad part of this whole night was, I was a TI fan before I saw him live, and his performance took all the enjoyment of his music away. On a brighter note, I will pay to see Busta Rhymes perform anytime he comes into town, great show.

E. Jae THE DJ?

Well, lemme give you a lil background info on myself....

I started out as a rapper doing the music thing on my own, basically linking up with a few big artists through out the south. I ended up doing songs with other big independent artists like Magnificent aka Magno from Houston and Lil Weavah from Atlanta. After linking up with a local R&B singer I was introduced to Deca and the other members of his clique, which included the local artist 2 Pistols. We all ended up linking up and doing music all together. The clique developed a new name, Blood Money Union (BMU), and started making music under that name, with a few more rappers. Me realising that rap wasn't what I really intended to do in the long run, I decided to focus my attention to DJing. I was offered my first job djing in the summer of 06 by the promotion company Golo Music at Club Hedo in Ybor City. I had never spun a party, wedding, nothing, I was booked straight into the club and ended up not being so bad at what I was doing. I ended up going to Hedo on a Thursday night and thats when I linked up with Strizzo. We had met previously, but had never really got the chance to chop it up. Strizzo helped me out like crazy. We clicked right from the jump, and he offered to help me learn how to really spin, improve my music selection, and rock a crowd like it should be done. I became his sidekick and would rock the mic while he would DJ. We started doing shows together and I would go to all his nights, because he was being booked, and I uhhh .... wasn't, lol. Strizzo was one of the first DJs I approached in Tampa when I was doing my rap thing, and when we linked back up, it was something that was in the back of his mind. We started performing together and went to the TJS DJS music conference in Tally in October of 06. On the way home, Strizzo asked me about the rapping and asked if I wanted to jump on a song of his, something he wanted to remix for radio. The next week, October 30th, I jumped on the Sweat record. The next day, it was added into mixshow rotation and I began to get 25 spins a week on a major radio station in the US. Talk about luck. It went from something I never intended to do, to now I was in prime position to capitalize on my new found lucky fame. Unfortunately, I let that opprotunity pass my by. But, I was able to learn what it took to promote a record and make something a regional hit, as I traveled around the state doing shows and linking up with new folks. In April of 07 I was in the studio with 2 Pistols and he recorded a new record with T-Pain called She Got It. I was still doing my DJ thing and he and I decided that we would work together on pushing his shit. We did our first mixtape together, and I took his record to King JB. I was djing with the King 3 nights a week, and he elevated me from just a simple ass DJ, into someone who people actually enjoyed listening to. Without King JB and Strizzo, I wouldn't be shit. But back to what we were talkin about, JB loved the record and he put his cosign behind it. That was huge for 2 Pistols career, because other than Orlando, the PD from WLLD 98.7 in Tampa, King JB was one of the first people to have his back. He got linked up with J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and they worked out a production deal, and reproduced the She Got It record. That is what the final touch that the record needed to get added on 98. From there he linked up with Universal Republic and worked out a deal with them. While he was working his single, he and I were doing mixtapes together to keep his buzz in the street going. Because I had been working with him, he decided to make me his tour DJ. I was on the road with him until February of 08. I began doing mixtapes soon after that. I worked with DJ Papa Smirf and The Empire on 2 Pistol's next mixtape. Then I followed it with an R&B Mixtape hosted by Cupid. I am still doing the mixtape thing, and spinning in the club in Tampa multiple nights a week. Thats my career in a nut shell, so far.... to be continued!

E.J.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://ejaethedj.blogspot.com/2008/09/who-is-e-jae-dj.html' title='Who Is E.
